Good morning — here is the latest world news digest for Sunday, October 4, covering the Gaza peace deadline, crypto markets, and the key events to watch today.

Trump gives Hamas a Sunday deadline to accept Gaza peace plan

Donald Trump set a hard deadline of 6 PM ET on Sunday (3:00 AM PKT on Monday) for Hamas to accept his 20-point Gaza peace plan, warning “all hell” would break out otherwise. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages within 72 hours, Hamas disarmed and removed from Gaza’s government, and a transitional “Board of Peace” to run the territory. Hamas responded on Friday agreeing in principle: it will release all hostages, living and deceased, and hand Gaza’s administration to a Palestinian technocrat body. The development was welcomed by Qatar, Egypt, the UN, and European leaders including Macron, Merz, and Starmer.
