Top World News — October 19, Update

Good morning — the headlines at 06:23 PKT on October 19. Kraken has set a firm October 23 cutoff for 14 delisted tokens, Bitcoin climbed back above $82,000, and a busy week of crypto-exchange deadlines starts today with Upbit's Blast-network withdrawal stop. Here is everything that matters, in plain language.

Kraken to delist 14 tokens on October 23

Kraken will delist 14 tokens — including BMB (Beamable), ELX (Elixir), APU, BDXN, DUCK (DuckChain), BOS, OBOL, IDEX, FIS, COPM, UXLINK, ALTHEA and NOBODY — on October 23, 2026, with trading ending at 16:00 German time. The exchange announced the move on October 7, four days before today's cutoff. Withdrawals stay open until January 29, 2027, after which Kraken says it will liquidate leftover balances, warning the proceeds could be "significantly below recent reference prices." Anyone holding these tokens on Kraken should move or sell them before the deadline.

Bitcoin back above $82,000; Ethereum flat

Bitcoin rose 0.69% to $82,033.03 in overnight trading, climbing back above the $82,000 level after slipping below $81,000 late Sunday — a gain of roughly $800 from the previous check. Ethereum traded nearly flat near $2,386. The rebound came as crypto markets steadied ahead of the Federal Reserve's October 28 meeting, though trading remained cautious.

Exchange deadlines this week: Upbit's Blast stop lands today

Upbit stops Blast-network withdrawals today, October 19, at 12:00 KST (08:00 PKT), the first of several tracked exchange cutoffs this week. Coinbase and Bybit suspend Blast trading on October 20, Bithumb ends BLAST trading on October 26, and Binance's Brazil-only delisting of 22 tokens lands on October 27. Binance's global delisting of EPIC and QUICK follows on October 28 — the same day as the FOMC rate decision. GYEN holders should also note the stablecoin's conversion to USDC runs October 26-30.

Market snapshot

Bitcoin traded near $82,033 and Ethereum near $2,386 in overnight trading. Oil futures were closed for the weekend: Friday's final settlement had December Brent futures at $109.86 and front-month WTI at $101.41. Gold held around $4,164-4,165 per ounce. There were no new China-US or China-UK tariff moves overnight; the Graham-Act waiver stands and the CBP delay of new de minimis mail rules to January 20, 2027 keeps the current clearance path for low-value parcels intact.
