US sellers, take note: eBay is making its seller balance program mandatory. From November 4, 2026, eligible US sellers will be automatically enrolled in the newly renamed "eBay balance" program (previously called Spendable Funds), and their existing automatic payout schedules will be reset.
eBay notified sellers of the change on October 20 through updated Payments Terms of Use and new US eBay balance Terms. Sellers in good standing will be enrolled automatically once eBay verifies their identity. Sales proceeds, minus fees, will be credited to the eBay balance account instead of going straight to the bank.
Key points for sellers: your current daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly payout schedule will be changed to on-demand withdrawals — earnings will no longer transfer automatically to your bank, and you must manually restore your preferred schedule in Seller Hub. Once enrolled, you cannot opt out without closing your eBay account. Sellers registered in New Mexico are excluded. Fixed spending limits ($2,000 per transaction, $5,000 per 30 days) are replaced with dynamic limits based on your seller risk profile.
This follows eBay's direction toward managed balances: UK private sellers received balance accounts in 2024, and Australia's Free Selling program adds balance functionality on November 3, 2026.
